Can I turn a list file (like music genres) into empty folder

January 10, 2017 at 05:14:27
Specs: Windows 7 and Windows Visga
I am acquiring a list of words describing music genres. They are just words describing music genres. Can I turn each listed word into a folder, so I then have music genre directories instead of just file names? Instantly, with a push of a button, bulk?

If I understand you correctly, you have a list of words which you want to use and create folders, that will be named the words from the list?

example

Rock
Jaz
Pop

you want to create folders as the above?

this can be done very easily with Excel VBA

Something like this can achieve your goal.

in B1 of any sheet enter the root path for the folder such as "c:\music files\"

in B2 paste the genres then run this code

Dim RootPath As String

Sub CreateFolders()

    RootPath = Range("B1")

    If Right(RootPath, 1) <> "\" Then
        RootPath = RootPath & "\"
    End If

    For Each bcell In Range("B2", Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp))
        MkDir RootPath & bcell
    Next bcell

End Sub

You can create playlists based on the Tags accompanying the file.

Download MP3tag to read and organize your music files. You can create playlists based on the Genre the file is already taged or create your own Genre.

Get MP3Tag for free from the link below. I have been using that program for at least 10 years.
