All you have to do is sign back into iTunes and anything you purchased can be downloaded again for free.

There are programs that can recover traces but after factory restore I would have thought even those would be incomplete.

Maybe iTunes themselves would play ball if you provide full details. After all, you have legitimately paid for them.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Next time, post here first and we can tell you how to copy your personal files before performing a factory restore. Or even how to remove the virus.

As I understand it... Apple will re-issue (allow) a download if you can prove you bought items from them. And I seem to recall they do keep a record of everything you buy/download via itunes... So all may not be lost... Contact Apple and explain circumstance etc... and who knows...

Likewise if you bought from Amazon "they" may also assist; although I have no sure knowledge re' Amazon's policy on this issue.

Pity you didn't drop in here first - before you went the restore path; as likely most of us would have forewarned and advised you about copying all those files (and others too) to external storage - before the restore operation...

And from here on... strongly advise you to at least copy all your itunes and other stuff (anything you don't want to lose again....) to external media; besides having them on the hard drive.... Typically to optical (DVD etc.) but if possible also an external hard drive... That way you have two sets in-case of need to restore again, or one of the copies gets damaged...) Keep your copies up to date; and check they are accessible too on your system when you make them, and ideally one other at least.

If you can get into even a backup scenario too - even better... There are various utilities for this... I use (and have for an age) Acronis; does what it says on the tin... Make a backup of the system once you have it all as you'd like it to be; and occasionally renew/update the backup... I store mine on DVD, and also a spare HD...

But above all... regularly copy (duplicate/save) all your personal files etc. "off the system entirely" - for safety sake?

http://consumerist.com/2009/11/02/m...

relates one saga similar to your situation...; albeit a while ago.

Perhaps try the steps outlined in the above and see if your downloads etc. show up; and if so... then download them again?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519

discusses it too...

But if you trawl (search) around with google, you get very confusing results... So I would say talk to Apple and se what they may do...

Suggest besides talking to Apple, you do a search via google using the search words/string I used:

how to redownload my itunes purchases

and you will find both the above - and lots more as well...

Try Apple asap - ideally now - before Christmas - and who knows they may (will...) play Santa...?

Let us know how you fare...
