Can I restore computer to prior to dell restore?

April 12, 2012 at 19:20:49
Specs: Windows 7
When I put in restore it asked if I wanted to save pics, files, etc and I said yes. Now that the restore to my inspiron is complete I have lost everything on my laptop. Is there anything that I can do to restore it back to where it was prior to restoring to factory settings???
I believe that it is windows 7

'Is there anything that I can do to restore it back to where it was prior to restoring to factory settings?'

not really, but you can use recuva to get back all your pics and documents. As far as progs, you will have to re-install them.

Sorry, a factory restore is meant as a last resort when nothing else can fix things. anything, including all updates will need to be reinstalled. If your system was not that bad, you should have asked for advice first, we may have had other options that would have been less drastic.
After you get the system set up JUST like you like it, make an Image of your hard drive and store it on a second or external hard drive. Then make a Windows 7 Repair Disk (both in the back up section) and set up a regular back up of your files. If you ever have another really serious problem, you can simply return to THAT state rather than the factory shipped state by popping in your repair disk, booting to it, restoring to the image you just made, and then restoring your current back up.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

There should be a folder on your hard drive called something like "windows.old" which contains all the saved data.

Obviously you will need to install all your programs again.........

Googling is quicker than waiting for an answer....

"There should be a folder on your hard drive called something ... "

Text, talk, drive...CRASH.
