Internet Explorer? No. You don't have to use it though.

You should keep it updated thru Windows Update, even if you don't use it. Which browser are you using in it's place? According to the following comparison, Firefox > Chrome > IE > Opera.

Even if you somehow uninstalled it (not recommended) it would mean that you could no longer get manual updates from MS or some other things they provide.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Yeah get that explorer entwined with O/S and the explorer browser are two seperate things, was trying to make some extra room as backup requires just a little more space, will frag with the architecture, and uninstalling shortcut just stops the icon appearing- waste really.. using Torch atm chrome as back up.. wish I could bypass <ANNA> ah well thanks guys.

To release space go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall any unwanted programs. You also might be able to manage with a few less System Restore points (although reducing them means using the command prompt).

CCleaner Slim will remove a lot of unwanted temporary files and other junk, although some can be removed in IE.

Video's are large so they can be put on a backup USB HD together with PIctures and Music. Windows 7 allows you to make changes to their default locations.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
