Solved Browser not acknowledging that popup blocker is disabled

June 9, 2014 at 04:20:19
Specs: Windows 7
I access an application which requires some confirmations through popups. For this reason I have disabled my popup blocker in my IE9. However, when trying to access the application, an error message keeps prompting "The browser blocked a popup window, please disable the popup blocker". This is very frustrating as I'm quite sure that the popup blocker is disabled. I also tried enabling the blocker, and adding the URL I need to access in the Exceptions list, but still to no avail.

Do you have any suggestions please?

Hi trek,

Thanks for your suggestion.

However I managed to solve the issue by running IE as administrator. Very strange, but this was causing the error.

Cheers & thanks the same ;-)

Why are you still running IE9?

Hi riider, unfortunately it's a company policy. Only IE9 has been tested with the various systems.

Somethings you might try. Disable "Use Pop-up Blocker" in Internet Options found in the Security Tab then Custom Level. Just in case it is not disabling under the one found in IE's tool menu. If still no go, one last thing you can try is to bypass your browser's cache. Again with pop-up blocker off, hold down "ctrl and press f5 on your keyboard. This reloads the web page getting all of it from the server, not loading it from your browser's cache. Hope this helps.
