Solved broken laptop screen problems

Specs: Windows 7
My daughter dropped my laptop. The screen is now broke. Cannot view words on the screen, only see various colors on the monitor. I really need to use my computer badly. Am I able to connect my laptop to another external monitor? How do I do this if I am unable to view on my laptop, as I must tell my computer to use an external monitor. Also how to I get past the logon screen that first shows up on my computer?

What is the make/model of your laptop? That will tell us outputs that are available, and shortcut key options to push the display to the external monitor.

Thanks.

✔ Best Answer
Just connect an external monitor & boot the laptop. To change the display to the monitor screen, try pressing Fn + F4.
