drop in your vista dvd, reboot and run the installation process.

you may also be lucky and have a hidden partition on the drive, depending what manufacturer, usually its and F key, this page might help.

you may also need to get some proprietry drivers from the manufacturers website if you install from dvd.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

actually tawnietnt01, just google for windows 7 activation keys and you will find one for really cheap, that will work for you. I would NEVER revert back to vista from 7, makes no sense to me.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

I know of no legal way to use a key bought online. You purchase a software license usually with media at the normal rate.

My guess is the computer is stolen and they put a stolen copy on it. Take it back to the crook that sold it to you and get your money back if you can find him on the corner.

If by some chance the computer is indeed legal to own then in most cases you can order media form the OEM to return it to some state. You may even be able to purchase an upgrade from the OEM to Windows 7 for a small charge.

It also may be that the software is on the computer's hard drive. See the owners manual for how to recover or make media.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
