Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Hi everyone,
I tried to block websites with the hosts file method.
I added a few sites and saved the file but I can still access them!!
I have a 64 bit OS so do i put it in system64 or something like that??

If I want to block a specific webpage, do i enter the exact url or just the domain (main) host url??

Thx in advance

You simply have to add something like this:
0.0.0.0 www.blocked_webserver.com
or
127.0.0.1 www.blocked_webserver.com

I prefer the first one.

The initial requester should always write the last response !!!

Get the good hosts file at http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hos... and add in your domain names in the list.

That always works unless you use a proxy.

Alright I fixed the problem. There needs to be at least two spaces between the url and the ip.
Thx everyone for replying

Ive been using http://www.timedoctor.com .
It uses a better procedure than blocking social media sites because it only monitors websites during production hours. People/Employees still have the option to use it for a breather or during breaks really . Sometimes they use it for work too .
