Block Win7 Sleep when working in background

Specs: Windows 7, 2.699 GHz / 759 MB
how do i keep windows 7 from sleeping when computer is working in the background? I work a lot with large files, rather downloading, copying, transfering, or backing up, and I just let the computer be when doing one of those tasks. The computer goes to sleep after 20 minutes and then pauses the task until it wakes back up. How do I prevent this from happening, and have it postpone the sleep time until the task is completed? I know I can just set the sleep time manually to never sleep (because some of my tasks take 7-8 hours, but I do not want to do that, because I do want it to sleep when I am not using the computer. I just upgraded to windows 7 and on my XP computer I did not have this problem as it would wait for background tasks to finish before sleeping. Please Help!

You need to go to Power settings by clicking on the power icon in the quick launch area of the task bar. The in the window that pops up click on on More power option. Then in the left margin click on Change when computer sleeps. The click on the scroll down arrow ( presumably in the AC power column) and select Never and click on save changes.
