Blank laptop screen on laptop

Specs: Windows 7, 2.5 Ghz
My toshiba sat L455 at turn on, goes to blank screen=??? I turn it on and it shows the Toshiba screen for one second then goes blank with the back light on. I push F2 and it shows (entering Set Up.......) but does nothing. I've removed the battery and plugged it in, put the battery back in to no avail. don't know what else to try. any suggestions.

First, if there's a DVI or VGA connector on the laptop, I would try plugging it into a regular PC monitor. If that works, then it's likely the FL inverter on your unit is gone. If it won't work on a PC monitor either it could be the video card is shot.

If it's the FL Inverter, you're in luck. It's usually a very cheap part and takes about 30 min's to replace.

If it's the video card, well, that's bad news. The video card will be part of the motherboard and it's usually cheaper to just buy a new laptop than to replace the motherboard.
