Black screen covers desktop background

November 8, 2011 at 14:17:36
Specs: Windows 7
I have a slideshow as my desktop background. All well until I changed the cursor pointer from white to black. Immediately the desktop turned black with the icons showing on top of the black background. I went to personalization and re- confirmed the slide show and saved it but the screen remained black. I have rebooted many times since, changed the theme and the background, the background remains black. I can even change the black to a color but it still fills the screen with ehTever color I chose, and obscures the slide show. When I shut down, in that first few seconds when the icons disappear, the solid color background also disappears, and for about 15 seconds I can see one of the slideshow photos filling the screen. I also changed the pointer back to white but the slideshow remains hidden behind the solid color background. Anyone have any ideas?

Umm. Try going into safe mode and changing your personalization settings. Also, if you have a windows genuine advantage issue, it will do this as well. So make sure your Activation is still good and do exactly what you did before in safemode, then restart your computer in regular mode.
