Black border screen when playing game in Win7

Specs: Windows Seven, 4GB
Hi there. :)

When I play games there are two black borders to the left and right of my screen. This only happens on Windows7 as I have recently upgraded from Vista and I didn't have the problem then.

The borders don't bother me to much, but I'm curious if it will always be like this? Or is it possible to change?

I would definitely check out your video drivers seeing how you've recently upgraded Windows.

It's possible that if the video drivers aren't compatible, or you're using backdated versions, you'll see display problems when you run games or any other full screen application. See if you can download a driver update.

Is this happening if you play DVDs through the system?

What is the model of your monitor? Also the graphics card?

Are you playing on a TV or computer monitor?

I am assuming your laptop screen is a wide screen? I am not a gamer but I would guess you can set the resolution that you want to run in the game settings? Your game is running in a 4:3 resolution instead of a wide screen one.

I can't say why this is happening now but it probably is related to video drivers. Check what resolutions you have available to you while only in Windows.

Post the FULL model of your laptop.
