Can probably be done with a batch file but this might be of interest:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Give an example of a file name and location. You may be able to use the REN command from command prompt to rename the files in bulk.

ssnader,

Did Derek and DAVE guess right that you actually want to
replace the first letter of each filename? Until I read their posts I
understood you to be asking how to replace the first character of
the file. It appears that the first character of a .jpg file always has
the hexidecimal value FF, or decimal 255, and looks like this: ΓΏ .

Jeff

Maybe but that appeared to prevent the file being openable as a jpg - or maybe that is not important to the poster. It all depends what is behind the question.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
