I wish to add a program script to be run prior to an image backup. Can I, also, run the backup run from the scheduler?

Windows 7 comes with a comprehensive Backup & Restore feature that include customizable -- daily, weekly or monthly -- scheduling.

Are you in fact running Windows 7?

No, I am not running W7 but my brother is and I'm helping him.
Can I add a script to the comprehensive backup that W7 offers?

I don't know if you can embed your script within the comprehensive Backup & Restore feature, but you should be able to add your batch file to the task scheduler.

Next question. If I use the task scheduler would I be able to run the backup from a command line so I could put it into the task scheduler? Maybe going to my brothers and experimenting would be the thing to do. Although he gets fancy when I experiment on his computer.

Yes, you can use the Wbadmin command to create scheduled system image backups. ... see below.
