Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 2.60 gigahertz AMD Athlon II X4 620 / 5887 MB
Somehow the background color of my taskbar, including the notification area, has become black. I've searched and poked around and can't find how to configure this. Help, please.

Thanks

Here's a clipped screen shot of the task bar. Notice I've also lost the clock and date icons.

And I just noticed that the task bar proper's background is white, not black. The black background is in the notification area and the start button. Sorry for the confusion.

Maybe system restore would be the best way out.

Derek,

I succeeded in fixing the problem. See the http://www.rcblue.com/images/taskbar_repaired.png. (The notification area background color is now black only because the wallpaper behind it is black there.)

I went to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Appearance and Personalization > Display Quality. I think I just let it do its thing from that point, by clicking on "Next", etc.

But thanks for your suggestion.

Your link didn't seem to work but I got the gist about the black areas . That seems like a neater solution than system restore. Glad to hear you fixed it and thx for popping back to let us know.
