avg deleted an exe, now my laptop is so slow

May 15, 2011 at 21:34:03
Specs: Windows 7
avg deleted an exe file in my laptop, after deleting that file, my laptop starts to lag or slow down. i restarted my laptop, after the vaio logo, the starting windows logo was shown (windows 7), then there is a black screen with a cursor that appeared. after waiting for 10 mins, the welcome logo for windows 7 appeared and i waited again for 5 mins, my desktop appeared. i can't remember the exe file that was deleted. after that incident, my internet is sometimes not recognized and the laptop is running very slow.

open a cmd window as adminstrator and type SFC /scannow enter, that will run a system file check and may fix any errors.

still, after SFC /scannow, nothing happens. I ran advanced systemcare and quickcared it but it has gotten worse. The desktop was gone. It says "C:\\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network..................."

*Edit: As I said at my first statement, i forgot which file was deleted but i'm sure it was an exe file. I think it is as important as smss.exe. something like that.

Back up your files to an external source and do a factory restore, it will take less time than messing around for hours on end. Then you can reinstall your programs and copy back your files.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
