Automatic Shutdown Problem Windows 7 after internet connects

April 7, 2013 at 23:24:54
Specs: Windows Vista
Dell Studio Laptop 1555 operating system windows 7.

My problem first occured after I booted my computer after a windows 7 update. The computer boots up normally and then automatically goes into shutdown mode as if i clicked shutdown on my own. After hours of troubleshooting I was able disable my network adapter under wireless adapter settings to prevent any type of network adapter activity and the problem of automatically shutting down doesn't occur anymore. I then tried enable the wireless adapter and as soon as it establish internet connection it then starts automatically shutting down again.

I then connect a usb wireless adapter and install it properly. As soon as it establishes an internet connection it begins to shutdown again. Same problem new wireless device.

I have used system restore to a previous restore point and this problem still occurs. I am currently backing up my hard drive and its taking a while too, to give an idea, it took 3-4 hours for it to go from 25-28 % percent with a 200 gigs of data on the hard drive. I'm going to continue with my plan on restoring to factory defaults after i back up my hard drive. In the mean while what is my laptop's problem?
Hardware? Power supply? Software? is there a connection between my current problem and windows creating a back up on dvd disc taking so long? Please help me anyone!

Disconnect your modem from going out so you should only have local area network. Do you still get auto shutdown sequence ?

Disconnected my modem from the internet and enabled my wireless network adapter. Local connection with no internet activity symbol with the ! yellow triangle appears and my laptop didn't do a shutdown sequence. And my back up process is still at 28% after 3-4 hours.

I suggest you to check Event Viewer logs to see the cause of the problem. You know the time the computer shuts down. Disconnect from the internet, open EventViewer, browse to the time the computer shut down and see what is causing the shutdown.

You may also suspect that a malware shuts your computer down upon internet connection.

Scan your computer with AV software, free or not, and malware removal software such as malwarebytes, which is free, with latest defs.

Hope this helps.
