autocad in xp mode double mouse

Autodesk Autocad 2000

Specs: Windows 7 pro, 4g
Hi Now normally in autocad the mouse changes to crosshairs in the workspace for accurate selection, in xp mode I have both a mouse and a crosshair (win 7 mouse driver?) and I am having trouble with accurate selecting. The best fix Ihave found is to change the xp mode to a crosshair mouse. As Auto cad is so expensive for a new version I would like to continue using this version. I had a computer failure which did not allow me to research this before purchasing a new computer.

There may be an Auto Cad Forum where other users may have the same experience and may have found a solution or at least an acceptable work-around.

If no other solution is acceptable, you may be able to add an PATA (IDE) drive, possibly from your old computer (XP installs easier on PATA drives than SATA drives due to driver issues) and install XP on there just to run AutoCad. You will have to either use BIOS feature to select active boot drive, or install normally and do a repair of your Windows 7 installation to install the dual boot manager.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

Are you using Virtual WinXP?

If so, try installing or tweaking Autocad to run a Windows compatibility mode instead.

Go to Control panel> Action Center> Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter.
