Hi my asus x5dc laptop won't bootup. When turned on i get a series of beeps for about a minute and it says "Reboot and select proper Boot device" I've been into the BIOS and checked the boot priority which i've set to CD/DVD as primary and HD as secondary. I don't have a backup disk and it only came with a drivers disk. How can i get it to work?

The beeps might be telling you have a hardware problem.
Problems concerning the HDD itself or other components related to connectivity with your HDD.
Did you allready try to start up the built-in recovery option by pressing F9?

Hi Rho- yes tried using F9 but no luck-didn't do anything apart from give me the same message again. I tried re-seating the RAM but that made no difference either- do you think my HD is bust?

It could also be your RAM. Look at this:

Your beep code is trying to tell you what your problem is, look it up.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thanks Fingers-good list that . I'll check all the keys on the keyboard-maybe one's stuck!
