Asus laptop displays only half of W7 desktop

Specs: Windows 7
I have a notebook that is part of a mobile lab. It is an ASUS. The right side of the screen is white with vertical lines, but the left side shows my desktop. This happens at start up, before I can even do anything.

if its still under warranty take it back.
sounds like a damaged graphic card/chip or display, it may only be a loose connection but you would have to open the case to check the connections.
you could try uninstalling the graphic card from the device manager and then reboot, which will reinstall the graphics again.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Try booting into Windows Safe Mode by tapping F8 at start up. If the issues stays the same then it is a hardware issue. If the screen displays full then it MIGHT be a driver issue or still could be hardware.

Thanks. I was hoping it was something simple that I could fix, but it is still under warranty so I will just send it back.

If the entire normal screen can be seen in the left part it may be some setting issue.
