Associated a wrong program to a licence file usb

Specs: Windows 7
I have a usb dongle woth a licence file on to run my software but somehow have managed to associate notepad to open it so now the software wont run anymore how do i take off the assocation?

If you can access the dongle contents via explorer or similar, and then highlight the file, then right-click on it. If I'm correct you then will see a drop down with "open" and "open with" at thetop? Logically choose "open with", and wait for the list of possible apps etc. to appear. Choose the app you need?

You can also go into the Control Panel and click on Default Programs.

Then click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a program."

Scroll down until you find the extension of the file, click on it, then click on the Change Program button.
