Why do you need a batch file?

Can you not just select open with and select the tick box that says always associate with this program and select Meeting Maker as the program of choice?

You only have to do this once and from then on all .ics files will always be opened with meeting maker.

The steps to do this are as follows:
1) Right click a file of the type you want to change (in your case filename.ics)
2) 'Open with' >>> 'Choose default program...'
3) Select the program you want to open it with (in your case meeting maker)
4) Tick the tick box near the bottom that says "Always use the selected program..." if not already ticked
5) Click ok
This should change the icons and associations for that file type
