Aspire 5315desire 2 replace 80GB w/320 win7

Specs: Windows Vista Basic, 1GB
Acer 5315-2153 running Windows Vista Basic 80GB partitioned 40GB for C and 40GB for D which is a big problem. I desire to replace with a 320 GB and will not partition. I have no Windows Vista disk and am not able to find a Vista Basic Disk which is what is installed on the computer. I have obtained a Windows 7 Disk and need to know what I can do to get my computer up and with the new 320 GB Hitachi Hard Drive.

use the free utilty from the disk manufacturer to do a bit by bit disk copy of the 80 gig to the 320, you can then delete the D : drive once installed and expand the c: partition to the whole disk, however there is little point in having the C: drive so big..

by copying the 80 gig drive bit for bit you should preserve the integrity of the hidden partition which contains your original vista installation, if you didnt format the whole drive when upgrading to win 7

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
