Solved ask.com search engine annoyance

Specs: Windows 7 service pack 2
i cannot remove the ask search engine.despite deleting it via task manager and settings.it is not in my installed programs so i cannot uninstall it.could someone please help as this is really annoying

In that case go through the rest of the procedures in the link that OtheHill provided in response #3 - there is a lot of rubbish that is left over even if you had gone through the Programs&Features removal path so hopefully one of the other steps will kill the last of it.

Which browser are you using? - they are all slightly different. For example in Chrome you click the 3 bars top right, choose 'settings' and then select/remove your search provider there. In IE you click the cogwheel, select 'manage add-ons' and select/remove in there.

I am using chrome> and yes I tried all the settings but it still comes back

In the future you need to read the screens when downloading and installing software. Look for checked boxes for items you may not want.

Just to add a little to what johnr said, in Chrome click on the 3 bars, go to settings, then over on the left side click on Extensions. Look for the Ask toolbar or search engine, then click on the garbage can by that entry. It will uninstall it.

i have clicked on that link and it tells me to uninstall it on my uninstall programs but i can,t do that as its not there

yep that worked wpd cleaner damn gud program so if ya can,t shift ask search engine download wpd cleaner it does the trick
