Just from personal experience I would uninstall AOL software, Windows 7 actually doesn't support the old versions and you have to contact them to get a win 7 version.

Aol software causes extensive problems in all PC's by jamming up the registry. Years ago AOL paid to have trials bundled on almost all new PC's, same as Norton (which is one of the worst AV's, but people got brainwashed in to thinking Norton was the best).

My advice would be to maybe try straight internet with different browsers like IE, Firefox, Google etc because aol is pretty well obsolete now, especially after they let people use it for free now (with no support...I guess they figured they ripped people off long enough) and if you want support it would still be $9.95 a month. If you are paying more than that (which many people are now on broadband and get this...they still pay $24.95 a month, because AOL wouldn't let them know the program is free if you are on broadband...go figure ...$'s) then you are being ripped off.
The choice is yours ;-)

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

That didn't answer Taldridge39's question. I have the same problem on XP and AOL 9.0. Does anyone know a fix other than getting rid of AOL?

AOL works OK using AOL 9.5
Burn your own CD After the download
http://help.aol.com/help/microsites...

You will than need to find it in order to Run it. By that I mean to use the Setup File.
AOL 9.5 for Windows 7
Right click the Start Button - Left click Open Windows Explorer - In the left Column Left click - C part of your
Hard Drive (It will be located under Computer)
Look to the big page on the right side and Left Double click AOL 9.5 -
AOL 9.5 will open = Look for Setup in this list and open it.
When you Open this Setup give it time and it will start to Install AOL 9.5

Since AOL is now free to people with high speed internet service their
Server are over loaded at times. After a delay you may get a popup saying something about a slow response. They shouldn't have made it free to
high speed. I use dialup and it's bad for me.
