Anyone has any idea how i can open damaged pdf files?

Specs: Windows 7
I have an issue with trying to open old PDF files in Adobe Reader 9 Standard.
The files were created in 2000 and they need to be retrieved to be put on a server.
The files are on cds
I tried saving them on the desktop and opening from there and we still received the Insufficient Data for an Image
I downloaded older versions of Adobe and in all of them i either couldn't open it or received the cyclic redundancy error.

Rather than I simply copy/post extracts from various source I found via google... perhaps you can/will a look at the responses there.

It does seem to be a not infrequent problem; and there appear to be a few remedies (recovery utilities/aids) that "may" work...?

Fortunately (touches wood head and leg) I haven't been in your situation with damaged .pdf files; so can't comment on any of the actual suggestions in the above list of responses...

Were you using FAT32 on the hard drive the PDF files originally resided on?

Do you know the size of the files?

Is the media CDR or CDRW?

Do you remember what burning program might have been used to create the CD?

"I downloaded older versions of Adobe and in all of them i either couldn't open it or received the cyclic redundancy error"

Go the other way & try > Version XI (11.0.10)

I use PDF-XChange Viewer

Plus
Try copy & paste on different location on ur system eg. C: drive or my document.
check the attributes , hope its not on 'Read only'.
Are all PDF files on that CD giving problem?
&
-> You can use the PDF optimizer to change the pdf to that of an earlier version to see if the problem goes away.

Here why you either update or change to a different PDF reader.
