all .exe is missing only in one partition

Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate, 2.00 GB
all .exe is missing only in one partition ... I got 500gb WD internal and I've install Win7 Ultimate on my computer, I've never encounter any thing like this before. All my exe went missing after the computer got black out, I was only moving files to the hard disk like 15gb and it was done when suddenly my house got power cut... after the power cut I discovered that all my exe for every program I've installed on the partition(system) like Photoshop / Corel and all are missing. manually or automatically by shortcut says that the "program was moved or deleted" but the program's file like binaries and such are still there untouched.... only the exe is not there.... is there a way to got it back? is there temp files for these problem? I don't have system restore point, tried it... and nothing happen when I use last good configuration... btw I got two windows on different hard disk (dual boot) both are windows 7...

Seems more to a VIRUS to me but anyway.

You coult try and run /SFC SCANNOW or CHKDSK /R /F
if that does not do any good, only thing I can think of is to use your O/S CD's
to repair the SYSTEM FILES ONLY (if any .exe of system is missing)

Other than that, guess you would have to reinstall/repair the missing Apps

Files like these are not contained in a system restore nor would last known having anything to do with restoring these files.

Backup is what you would use. Where is your backup?

After all you backup regularly because your files are important to you, right?

Since this is so selective it does sound like malware/virus. Do check that exe's haven't been renamed to something else like .ink [shortcuts]

No, it takes quite a while but doesn't ever tell you what it fixed (if anything). Worthwhile though, but you were given an incorrect syntax. Try this then hit Enter:

sfc /scannow

Note the single space as this is important.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

It would also be important to do it via a cmd prompt not the run line which, if there is a error, exits without you seeing the error

i think what my problem is beyond repair... there must be something wrong after I send the harddisk to its factory for repair before... well when I bought the green caviar nothing was wrong... but it got SMART then when I send them back the WD hdd turn to kinda normal version/series of the model with a lot of scratch... I don't know how they service hdd in Malaysia... well no more WD for me lol... oh yeah... there also once my wd passport got the same problem... but it was a long time before.. i just formatted it.... oh yeah and it also got broken before... :) WD is the best harddisk but it just their service here maybe beyond dream or maybe beyond nightmare.. thanks guy... I'll install windows on other hdd... that should do it
