after a power cut windows wont load, help?

Specs: Windows 7, Intel G6950 2.80GHz / corsair 4gb
we recently had a power cut and now windows wont load, it will go to the windows loading screen and load fine but before it shows the login screen it just hangs at a black screen, i've tried reinstalling windows but when it loads the windows files from the disk it just sits at a screen with the windows background and nothing loads, and to top it off start-up repair works fine but it wont recognise my plug and play keyboard or mouse so i cant do anything.

i have no idea how to fix this and nothing looks like its shorted or anything.

Look for a hardware issue caused by the power cutting off, possibly already a weak link that just failed. You could have a problem with one or more memory stick or a bad hard drive segment. Run Memtert86 to test your memory and if you get errors, retest with one stick at a time, replace as needed. Use the hard drive manufacturer's utility to test the hard drive's integrity. Windows also has a check disk with a repair option, but you need to be able to run windows, at least in safe mode to access it. Also possibly a power supply problem.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

get a hold of a linux boot disk, copy all your files.
check bios is set to default,if your machine has a built in video chip and a video card make sure its set to run from the video card.
format the c; drive, install your drivers for the motherboard, then install win7 make sure your connected to the internet to get updated drivers.
after following the advice already given.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
