Go to Adobe's site and look for reference to your system (ie: Windows 7 64bit, etc). There are different versions and you need to make sure you have the correct one(s). I am not sure if it is still the case with Adobe, but since MS includes both 32bit IE and 64bit IE with Windows 7 64bit, in the past you would need to download both 32bit and 64bit versions of Adobe Flash Player. This might no longer be the case and they might now include what is needed for the 32bit browser within the 64bit download/installer, but you will definitely need the 64 bit version at least.
I also noticed you said "i downloaded..." and did not mention installing. If this is not just an oversight, make sure you know where you are downloading to (best is to begin by putting it on your desktop, or in a special download folder like firefox defaults to) so you can install it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
