Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium, Gateway DX 4300/2.6 gig processor/8 GB RAM
I installed Lavasoft Ad-Aware 2007 on my new computer. Long story short-I just did a clean install. It is not compatible with Win 7. Anybody using Spybot Search And Destroy with Win 7. I rarely use ad aware anyway.

Why not ditch both and use Microsoft Security Essentials - it's
free and seems to be getting fairly good reviews.

Use restore point to time before you installed it. Then us Security Essentials.

I thought I downloaded the latest free ad aware. Maybe it wasn't. I always get it through a like at majorgeek.com. Anyway, I don't think I'll risk it again. I downloaded spybot search and destroy and it's running fine along with Microsoft Security Essentials. Neither one is finding any spyware - or anything at all, probably because I've not been surfing or searching much.

Thanks to all.

James.

Use STOPzilla antivirus. It is an adware and spyware scanner that offers real-time adware protection that monitors your system, intercepts any adware installations that it detects and alerts you about the issue.
