Acer Erecovery for windows 7 issue

February 3, 2018 at 10:11:44
Specs: windows 7
I had decided to reformat my computer using the Acer eRecovery Managment. Currently, backup files: stuck at 44% and the total elapsed time is 06:50:00

I know I have about 600gigs of data on my hard drive , so i was expecting a sloe backup.. but this weird. for the past 2 hours it has been stuck on 44%, and before that it was stuck on 35% for an hour.

Should i force a restart and try again? im not sure if that will affect anything. At this point i would rather just move important files to a different hardrive and then refortmat.

What prompted you to reformat? Have you gotten any error messages during the backup or a message like "do not turn off your computer"?

"I have about 600gigs of data on my hard drive"

That's a LOT of data. Is it all on the Windows partition?

"At this point i would rather just move important files to a different hardrive and then refortmat."

That's what you should have been doing all along. Data should be stored on its own partition, not the Windows partition, plus it should backed up regularly to at least 2 other locations - ext HDD, CDs, DVDs, etc. USB flash drives are not considered safe for long term storage.

"Should i force a restart and try again? im not sure if that will affect anything."

I'm not sure if it will either but if it's been stuck for hours at 44%, I don't see what other choice you have.

I guess was actually just the obscene amount of stuff I had on my hardrive. 8 hours from start to finish and the backup was complete. The restore took 30 minutes, and everything is backed up properly as intended. Thanks for the help anyways. guys.

Does anyone here know anything about installing VCredist? I am having problems with that too and i cant see to figure out whats going on.
