accidentally erased files on DVD burned in W7

Specs: Windows 7
i can still see the burnt area on the disc, and nothing was burnt over it. It just see the data on the disc, has noting else written on it. I think someone deleted the directory or names of the files

It isn't possible to delete a specific file or folder on a DVD-RW. You can only erase the entire disc to use it again (unless it was formatted for packet-writing - drag to disc writing).

if it's a DVD-R, you can't delete or erase anything on it - full stop.

So if something disappears it's because the disc is corrupted, in which case the data may be beyond recovery. You can try recovery software, no harm in trying, but I don't think it works for optical media: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filer...

As mentioned above, you need to be more specific. What exact type of disk and what exact program was used to write the data?
