I have got a toshiba satellite pro L450D-12X and really need a factory restore, can only log on my kids user

If the computer is working but your user profile is messed up, how do you think performing a factory restore will change that? You will still need to create a new one.

There are probably ways to repair or at least copy your personal data to a new profile.

I do not recommend a factory reset.

If you are interested in trying to fix things then you need to provide more information than you have.

Echoing OtheHill - safeguard your personal files etc - first; before you do anything in terms of restore or similar…

Copy them all to optical media and verify they are accessible from the system that made them, and ideally at least one other…

Then set about fixing your problem(s) as posted...
