163-Time & Date Not Set

My guess is that the CMOS battery on your laptop motherboard needs to be replaced. The CMOS battery stores all of your basic hardware system settings while your computer is turned off. Typically the battery can last several years but since this is a Compaq laptop it’s probably 5+ years old. It sounds like the laptop has lost all its settings and needs to be reconfigured. I’m not sure what model Compaq laptop you have but you will need to go into the system setup and set the date, time and other settings that are not correct like the hard drive type and so on after your battery is replaced.
