ADC means additional domain controller or active directory controller.
BDC means backup domain controller

We don't use either term when discussing Active Directory or Domain controllers.

ADC is a made up term by those who don't know better.
BDC is a term from NT4 days and doesn't exist in Active Directory

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

In NT4 domains there was a very real distinction between a PDC and BDC. A BDC contained a read only copy of domain data. All changes had to be made on the PDC. With Windows 2000 all domain controllers became peers so the concepts of PDC and BDC became obsolete and meaningless.
