Hello folks, I have this test environment where I used to have AD, Exchange 2010 installed and working perfectly fine before. I didn't use this test lab for quite some time but I started using again today only.
Now interestingly, I can see Exchange Management Console and AD users and computers console in Start menu. However, when I try open AD users and computers console it opens with red cross on AD users and computers. There is no domain name, users or computers below where I can expand it. See attached. Even Server Manager does not show any AD role installed.
Naturally due to this I can't perform clean uninstall of Exchange as it can't contact AD, schema master etc. Gives me error "Active Directory does not exist or cannot be contacted"
How do I uninstall Exchange without AD functioning properly? Or how do I get AD working so I can uninstall Exchange 2010 cleanly?
Please note that this is test environment where I am using VMware workstation and both AD and Exchange are installed on same VM. I could just simply delete VM but I prefer to uninstall stuff cleanly.
Is there any way I can achieve this? thaks
Did you make any changes to your Domain Controller?
No changes have been made to DC.
Was this a free download from MS? If so the trial has expired Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
