Hey guys,

I've recently got a request from a customer about limiting internet access for certain terminal server users during work hours. I'm not sure how to proceed, if this can even be solved.

It would be ebough to limit access to Internet Explorer (as they don't have priviliges to install another browser) during these times, but I'm still not convinced you can control that access according to a schedule. Any input would be greatly appriciated!

Internet access would have to go thru a proxy that has scheduling control.

Otherwise setting a dhcp server with ip reservations that didn't give a gateway would be another way of addressing this.

Thanks wanderer,

Another question then... it seems kind of stupid to do so, but would it be possible to use said TS server as proxy as well?

My TS/Citrix servers only run what they need to and all app connections are to other servers hosting those apps.

With two nics in the TS server it should be possible but having never checked into it I could not say for sure.

I'm still not sure it'll work, but I downloaded FreeProxy in a lab environment and installed that on a TS server, attempting to control internet access. It does work, but I'm having a problem with user settings though, but that might just be because I'm unfamiliar with the software itself. I'll post back if I get it to work. Seems to be a good way of raising security though.
