I am new to the Server 2008 platform. I am running it on Virtual PC. I have successfully installed it, but can't run dcpromo.exe, since i am have tcp/ip configuration issues. I installed this OS as a learning platform and will not connect to a physical network. Is this the reason I can't configure the tcp/ip. I have tried it several ways with the network card enabled and disabled. When I run ipconfig /all, I don't have an ip address, subnet mask or dns server. Any help would be appreciated.
The network card in the VM either needs to be attached to a connected, physical card, or it needs to be connected to a fake one like "Local Only" or "Shared Networing (NAT). Once it is connected, you would set your NIC to have a static IP address and dcpromo should work. --
