Specs: server 2008 r2 win xp, pentium4
I have installed server 2008.
I have 14 xp clients. the strange thing is that some of them take the roaming profile from the ser ver but others do not.
when i look what profile they use it says locally cached profile.
How can i change the settings on the xp machine to use roaming profile.
when i looked at the advanced settings under my computer for profiles, the domain profile cannot be chosen because it is gray.
Please help!!!

Sounds like the computer is not a part of the domain. try disjoining it from the Domain, Deleting the computer's OU and rejoining it to the domain. Or is it simply the computer has never been joined to the domain?

It is unusual for 14 workstations to be having roaming profiles. Roaming profiles are server and workstation intensive.

So lets make sure we are talking the same thing here.

Martin how would you describe a roaming profile?
These 14 people moving constantly between offices/sites/pcs?
Who set the profiles up?
How long has this been working and when did they stop working?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
