Specs: Windows 2003 Standard, 8 GB

I have recently upgraded the RAM of my server from 4Gb to 8GB.

Earlier i was using Windwos 2003 Standard which only supports 4 GB RAM.

No i am plannign to migrate to 2008 server. And this server is the main DNS.
I also have a file server which has the same 2003 Standard and has 2 GB RAM.

1. Please suggest which edition of windows 2008 should i go for, I have a lot of Remote Desk top users.
2. Can i use 2008 Server with DNS on the main machine and let 2003 be there on the File Server.
3. How can i backup and restore all the DNS Settings/Users/Group Policy Settings from 2003 to 2008 server.
4. Most of the users are using outlook express, Is it possible if I can take the bakup of their complete account including mails/internet favorites and then restore it to 2008 server, if yes then how?

Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance. :)

1. 2008 standard supports up to 32gig of memory. Your rdp users should be on a different server than the DC.

2. yes

3. You upgrade the present 2003 dc to 2008

4. You don't mention an exchange server so your reference to using outlook express must mean your email is hosted. There is nothing to change since outlook express is a local install and as such as nothing to do with the server.
