Solved Home folder with automatic security permissions

March 8, 2013 at 00:09:56
Specs: Windows Server 2008 R2
I am after creating a home folder using group policy which will do the following:
1. Automatically create a home folder for a new user
2. Map a specific drive letter to the new folder which displays to the user as "Home (H)"
3. Set permissions to the folder for the administrator account and the new user only

So far I have been able to create steps 1 and 2 using folder redirection and drive maps but there is nothing available in the options to set the security permissions automatically.

I would also prefer not to use home drive mapping in the AD account as this will not automatically create the folder or display the home drive name as I want.

Any suggestions that will automate this process are welcome.

Many thanks,

Try to find a powershell script that will do that.

That would be ideal, but I have no idea about powershell, what I would need to script or how and where it would be applied.

Any suggestions?

I'm not much of a powershell user either but just Google:
powershell script to create new user.

There are a lot of hits.
