Solved Have 2 HD as Raid 1, want to add 2 more HD as their own RAID

June 29, 2012 at 14:23:35
Specs: Server 2008 RC2 SP1
We run a SQL database and its all on a RAID 1 2x1TB setup along with Windows OS, programs, etc. I want to get 2 more 1TB drives and set those 2 up as their own RAID 1 setup and move the SQL database onto that RAID setup.

We have a Dell T410 with a software PERC S100 RAID.
My question is can I plug in the 2 new hard drives and have those 2 physical drives create 1 virtual RAID 1 drive without having to erase everything from the current 2 drives that are running everything?

No problem at all initializing and setting up another raid1.
You should get 3 tb drives so one drive can be configured as a hot spare for both raid arrays in case of drive failure.
