Hi Guys

I have a really strange issue. When I connect to a customers VPN and disconnect the DNS server cannot resolve sites such as Google. I have to reset the DNS server to fix this issue

I have a SBS 2008 server with Windows 7 Clients

Many Thanks

Rob

what do you mean by "reset dns" or "disconnect dns"?
exactly how are you connecting to the vpn? Site to site or via vpn client software?

A vpn using dialup makes no sense. You barely have enough bandwidth at 56-28K to support data flow let alone vpn encryption.

There is no reason to stop and restart dns client service. If you which to flush the dns local cache - which is what you are doing with stop and start, instead run the command ipconfig /flushdns

I would suggest posting the results of an ipconfig /all before and after you connect via the vpn. Post both for review.

Thanks for the clarification :-)
What vpn client software are you running?

It's been two days - you still have the issue?
