Hi We have a domain Windows server 2008 and wish to use a different home folder name to the login name. Can some one help me to do this since I will have a CSV file of their login name and folder name. It's the home folder connect to H drive path that I need to sort out and map since I can't use variables %username%. I have over 700 new users to do. Will there be any problems with roaming/mandarin profiles if I use a different home folder name also?
Thanks in advance
They don't need to know their folders name. You map a drive like H: for each person and it could be XYSJKJ for folder name and they wouldn't know the difference nor would they care. We do both the mapping and save file redirection to their home folders. Users don't seem to have any problems seeing their folders and no one else's Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

It sounds like symbolic links might work. However, Windows requires 3rd party software to create them. Search Google for symbolic link windows. I haven't used the software so I'm not recommending it. I'm just saying that it exists. The world is full of rats, Republicans & Democrats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbol... Why would you care what the home folder name is called? What is the gain for the complication? Users get there by a drive mapping anyway.
Look into defining and using the %HOMEPATH% and %HOMESHARE% variables
Guapo I believe you want 'of' not' if'

The home folders names are access by the class teachers so they need to know their names in the folders but the login they will be using is a given web login name which we want them to use instead of there first name . Last name. Home drive
