Hello all,

I have a domain which I must decommission. I have 5000 computer accounts in the domain. I used a tool to ping all the names of the machines in the domain. I have 4300 computer which didn't get a response. I have the list in an excel sheet. What would be th best way to disable the accounts? I believe a vbs script should be used. Has anybody done this task before and which method they used or even provide me a vbs script that will work for this?

Any help would be great.

Maybe copy off data, modifiy it and return it using LDIF or CSV formats?

A Pit Bull is like a gun you can pet. And there is no safety on it.

hey jefro,

I'm not sure what you mean. I basically have a list of 4300 computer accounts that I need to disable and I don't want to manually disable each one but rather use a vbs script or something else.

If you're decommissioning the entire domain, don't sweat the small stuff. Kill the DCs and the domain is decommissioned.

If the domain is going to be decommissioned presumably you have already moved whatever resources that were required to another forest/domain. So why would you waste time with such a trivial task?

Anyway if you must do it use powershell:

get-content -path c:\inputfile.txt | % { disable-qadcomputer $_ -credential domain\username }

Here's a VB version: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.co...

But I agree with the others: why bother if you are decommissioning the domain?
