XP based PCs require a password to reach network shares

Specs: Windows Server 2003, Celeron/ 4 gb RAM
I recently refurbished our Windows SBS 2003 by reloading the OS and installing new drives. We have several XP based systems on our small network and most of them require the entry of a password to access network shares even when the password is null, nada, void etc. You first have to run explorer and select a network share and then it pops up requiring a password at which time you just have to hit return. This is no big deal but it is tedious.

Is this a peer-to-peer network or a Windows Active Directory based domain?

If it's a p-t-p, you'll want to click on my name above in this response and read my “how-to” guide titled, “You try to connect to a share but are asked for a Username/Password

I am the captain of my soul.
