Specs: Windows server 2003 standard, 4gb
hello everyone,
maybe someone can help me with my problem, we have a server 2003 standard computer, the drive is using software raid 1, the primary drive drive failed so i remove the mirror to that drive and rebuild it into different hard drive, i shutdown the computer and remove the faulty drive but when i start windows is not loading, only blinking cursor is appearing. anyone can help me for the correct values of boot.ini on that case? thanks.

nothing to do with your boot.ini

"rebuild it into different hard drive" clearly was the incorrect thing to do.

All you needed to do was go into Disk Management and break the mirror.
Change out the failed drive with a new one\
Remirror to the newly added drive.

At this point you can try going into recovery console and run the utilites fixmbr [you are missing your mbr which results in the flashing cursor on the black screen] and fixboot.

if still no go move on to a repair install of 2003

thanks for the reply, i think it is really an MBR issue, what i did is i plug a different hard drive and path the boot.ini of it in the raid drive, now i can boot to my raid drive with the help of the third hard drive..

how can i repair my raid drive to boot to itself without the help of the third drive? i tried to repair the software installation before but the option repair was not available.

if ever i will use the fixmbr and fixboot on recovery console, does it affect my data and programs installed on it?
