Specs: Windows 2003 Std SP2
Hi All,

I thought I would share this solution. We had a problem on a 2003 server where the windows GUI/inteface took about 10 minutes to load up. Afterwards clicking start or running anything from the GUI took around 5 minutes to launch. Anything launched from the command prompt ran as normal. The event viewer listed a dcom error 10010 which pointed to a WMI error. The problem was caused by a permission issue on the following key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID

It was missing the "authenticated users" group. Once added and rebooted, the windows shell returned to normal.

Kind Regards!
G. Gauthier
