Unable to join Domain - Windows 7 to Windows Server 2003 R2

Specs: Windows Server 2003 R2
I am receiving error 'An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain.

Please help!!!

Make sure your windows 7 machine points to your server for dns lookups. Generic dns servers won't have any knowledge about your domain

generic dns servers as the gateway ip or internet based dns servers. workstations have to point to the local domain dns server.

Try and ping the domain controller by name.
That should show if you have a dns problem.
