Specs: Windows Server 2008R2, lots

This may seem a simple question and indeed the answer may be simple, but I cannot obtain the answer from anyone, even work colleagues! It's also related to Symantec Backup Exec 2012 so apologies if in the wrong place.

So, we have a server. 'Server A' . Server A is a file server running Windows Server 2003R2 and Symantec Backup Exec 2012. It also stores approx 500gb of data. The server also has a built in tape drive. The question is, if I use Server A to backup itself (the data) onto tape and Server A then goes bang, how do I perform a restore? Can I use another Symantec console on another server with the same tape drive?

Thanks in advance.

(MCSE 2003/2008) - would you believe it with a question like that!?

Yes you can install BE on another server, catalog the tape and then restore the data from backup.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
